Burna Boy, the award-winning Afrofusion star, is set to hold his first-ever music festival in Port Harcourt, Rivers state.

The ‘Last Last’ hitmaker announced the five-day concert in his native city during an Instagram live session on Friday.

Burna Boy revealed that the festival will be held between December 21 and 25.

“We are trying to push the Burna Boy festival from the 21st to the 25th of December in Port Harcourt, Nigeria for those of you that are not in Nigeria,” he said in a mixture of English and pidgin.

“We are having the world come. The whole world is coming. If you are an artiste and know I have never spoken to you, know you are performing at my first-ever concert in Port Harcourt.

“Just let me know the date that will be free for you between the 21st and 25th of December. Do not worry we are still going to sort it.

“This one na me. No government, no nothing. We need our government to provide security. This is just me and my people.”

Burna Boy recently visited the University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT). He also gifted some students N10 million to settle their school fees.

Born Damini Ogulu, Burna Boy gained prominence in 2013 with the release of ‘Like to Party,’ a song off his debut album ‘L.I.F.E.’

In 2021, he won the ‘Best World Music Album’ category at the Grammy Awards with his fifth album ‘Twice As Tall’.

In April, the Port Harcourt-born singer made the Time Magazine’s list of 100 most influential people for 2024.

The Canadian senate also hailed him for contributing to their entertainment space.
