BUK final year student dies in hostel

Mercy Sunday, a 400-level political science student of the Bayero University Kano (BUK), has died in her hostel.

According to PUNCH, the female undergraduate passed away on Tuesday in the Ramat Hall female students’ hostel of the varsity.

The lady was said to have died following a fever attack, coupled with vomiting. A roommate was also said to have pointed out that she passed on shortly after foaming from the mouth.

It is understood that Mercy’s corpse has been deposited in the mortuary while the varsity awaits autopsy.

Shamsuddeen Umar, BUK’s dean of student affairs, who confirmed the incident to the news outlet, said she died of natural causes.

Umar said the illness resurfaced on Monday night but unfortunately claimed her life before daybreak on Tuesday.

“She was sick and attended the University clinic where she was taken care of before being discharged to her hostel,” the dean was quoted as saying.
