President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the sum of N4 billion take-off grant for the establishment of two federal polytechnics in Plateau and Oyo states.
Bashir Ahmad, Buhari’s personal assistant on new media, broke the news in a series of tweets on his Twitter page.
On Monday, Ahmad disclosed that Buhari has okayed the establishment of the Federal Polytechnic, Shendam, and also approved the sum of N2 billion from the resources of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) for the immediate take-off of the institution.
“President @MBuhari has approved the establishment of Federal Polytechnic, Shendam, Plateau State, with an approval of N2 billion from the funding resources of TETFund for the immediate take-off, the Ministry of Education confirmed in a letter to Gov Simon Lalong of Plateau State,” he wrote.

In the same vein on Tuesday, Ahmad said the ministry of education had already confirmed Buhari’s approval of the new institution in a letter to Seyi Makinde, the governor of Oyo state.
He stated that a take-off grant of N2 billion has been approved for the new institution — to be named the Federal Polytechnic Ayede — from the funding resources of TETFund towards providing facilities for immediate take-off.

In the letter, it was stated that a technical team from the education ministry and the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) will soon visit the site to assess its readiness for academic activities ahead of October 2021.
