Brymo, the Nigerian singer, says he might be the most courted artiste by a record label globally.
The music star, in an online forum, said he has landed over a dozen recording contracts over the last decade.
He said he also received offers of over $500,000 for his music catalogue as of the beginning of the year 2022.
“I make music. All my career, I’ve let my opportunities meet me halfway because you’re a beggar if you go all the way. Also, you’d be stupid if you don’t go at all. I record great songs and publish them for people to find,” he said.
“My market grows every year. As of the beginning of 2022, I’ve had a $500,000 offer for my catalogue. Over the last ten years, I’ve had over a dozen recording contract offers.
“I may just be the most courted artiste in the world by record labels and I’m 36 years old. All the international labels finding records right now came through me when they came here.
“One or two of them came to me first, called my manager, and said Brymo is our first signee. I didn’t take it because they just weren’t for me. Those I liked, I took. I took [one of such] and did a one-chance album with them.
“They sent me royalties that didn’t match what I even sold by myself, while you all here were arguing I wasn’t pushing my music well. I made more money off MD&S than [they] did in America. I got it clear since then.”
Brymo said he plans to widen his reach in America and Europe through direct bookings, not with an intermediary.
“I’d love to tour Europe and the UK more; come to the US and everything. But to be honest, my primary market is Nigeria. My second biggest market is Africa. Then, Europe. I’m not supposed to be chasing deals,” Brymo said.
“I want to explore, but I don’t want to leave. I want 5000 people to fly to Lagos and see me here.
“I want 10,000 to stream me live from across the world while I perform in Lagos. From there, I’ll be big enough to go anywhere. People will book me from their country, not my connections trying to hook me up with deals.”
