While the two comedians are prominent figures from the same generation and have a history of collaborating on stand-up comedy events, their professional paths have diverged in recent times, with each now primarily hosting their own independent shows.

Addressing their relationship in a recent interview, Bovi clarified that there is no animosity between them.

The 46-year-old comedian explained that he has consciously redirected his priorities towards spending more time with his family and advancing his career in filmmaking and television.

“We are cool. Nothing happened (between us). Interests changed, especially for me. I wanted to focus, spend more time with family. I wanted to also elevate myself,” he said.

“I easily get bored with things. When I am doing something for too long I try to do something else. As you know I started to do film. As you know I went back to TV. I wanted to build my own brand.

“I needed the world to know that I can stand with the mic endlessly and talk. I also started to think that when I blow the whistle and host shows at Eko Hotels, it fills up, why should I go and share money? Why should we be many and do one show?”

In 2023, Bovi revealed that the closeness between him and Basketmouth reduced because he wanted to grow his brand and focus more on himself.
