Shakara Festival has announced the full lineup for its maiden edition, positioning the event as one of the more affordable cultural festivals in Lagos this December.
The four-day event is scheduled for December 18 to 21, 2025, and will be held at the Nautica Beach Resort, Elegushi, Lekki, Lagos.
Godson Oriaku, founder of Shakara Festival, said the event is designed as a “full-stack Nigerian showcase”, featuring a blend of Afrobeats, Highlife, Alté, Afro-soul, diaspora influences, and gospel music.
“There is no single headline act. Instead, we are exporting and showcasing a mix of Nigerian sound across boards, from Afrobeat OG artistes to contemporary artists, diaspora sounds, highlife music, Afro-soul, alternate sounds and gospel,” he said.
The star-studded lineup includes Blaqbonez, Show Dem Camp, J’Dess, Mich Straaw, Brymo, Johnny Drille, Boj and rising stars such as Mavo, Llona, Tar1q and Morravey. Highlife duo The Cavemen, as well as diaspora acts Curtis J and Keys The Prince, are also billed to perform.
The festival will feature a late-night stage ‘Shakara After Dark’ on December 20, in collaboration with nightlife brand Obi’s House, with performances from WanniXHandi, DJ Shawn, Bonamski and others.
It will close on December 21 with Shakara Gospel Day, an all-day praise and worship event featuring Gbenga Akinfenwa, SMJ, Yinka Alaseyori, Bidemi Olaoba, Sinach, Noble G, Ada Ehi and several other gospel acts.
Shehu Raji, one of the organisers, said the festival also includes ‘Shakara Junction’, a culture and commerce marketplace, ‘Shakara Series’, a panel-discussion platform, ‘Shakara Games Village’, for casual gaming and the After Dark nightlife section.
He added that concerns about hosting the event at a beachside venue have been addressed, noting that the organisers are working with the Lagos state government, the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) and private security companies to ensure safety.
The organisers said Shakara Festival aims to become a top spot for the annual ‘Detty December’ celebrations, with plans to welcome about 20,000 people each day, from Nigerians in the diaspora to music lovers across Africa.
