In an interview with the “Out of Context” podcast, the rapper said relationships — including his — have their ups and downs and require continuous effort and navigation.

He said while marriage is often seen as the symbol of a successful relationship, the primary focus should be on maintaining a healthy bond rather than rushing into a union due to societal pressure or fear.

“It is a little personal, you know what I mean? But just to be real with you, just like any people who have dealt with love, we’ve had our ups and downs, you know what I am saying? And I think it is still finding the right navigation through it all,” he said.

“Marriage symbolizes the best relationship, and having a relationship is first and foremost.

“I feel like a lot of people get the idea of like, ‘Oh, you have to get married,’ but then it is like, to me, that is almost a fear-based way of thinking, too. Because then people are getting divorced. The divorce rate is so f**king high.

“I feel I can only speak for myself that there needs to be more work done so we can keep going.”

The rapper added that his focus remains on building a strong foundation as a family with Jhené.

Sean and Jhené first got together in 2016, shortly after she divorced Polo da Genius, the producer.

They welcomed Noah, their son, in November 2022.

Jhené is also the mother of 15-year-old Namiko, whom she shares with O’Ryan, the US singer.
