Ace comedian, Ali Baba, is championing the cause of ThinTallTony, a Big Brother Naija contestant who’s been nominated for eviction.

ThinTallTony was nominated among the contestants who may leave the Big Brother house during the eviction show which took place on Sunday.

Ali Baba on Tuesday took to Instagram to canvass for votes for the outspoken housemate.

The comedian described ThinTallTony as the “most interesting” male housemate, saying he should not be up for eviction.

He wrote: “First off… I think the habit of voting for the person who you believe has an advantage in the house over you is not nice.

“I appreciate the issue of survival of the fittest but also believe that for viewers to continue to enjoy watching the show… the most interesting guy with more depth should not be up for eviction.”

Ali Baba is not the first celebrity to campaign for a housemate nominated for eviction.

Nollywood star, Funke Akindele, blazed the trail by campaigning for two housemates in the past two weeks.

Akindele canvassed for votes for Efe and Bisola. Both housemates managed to avoid eviction.

Although there is no rule against using celebrity power to swing votes for housemates, many Nigerians on social media had criticised Akindele for being biased.

If Ali Baba’s campaign for ThinTallTony gets him saved from eviction, the trend of celebrities using their social media clout to save their favourite housemate from eviction is bound to continue.

During the first week in the house, ThinTallTony did the unexpected by stripping naked to campaign for votes.
