Beverly Naya, the Nollywood actress, has opened up on her role in ‘The One For Sarah’, the movie on emotional abuse and self-discovery.
Naya played the lead role in the movie, which premiered in Lagos on October 28.
Speaking during the screening of the movie, the actress said the project “was really important to me to capture emotional abuse.”
“It is this slow, corrosive, takedown of your spirit and your self-esteem to the point that you don’t even know who you are at the end of it,” she said.
“It was really important to me to make my audience understand it and learn how to come out of it a better version of yourself”.
On her part, Uche Louis Okocha, the movie producer, said the project was shot in 2020 during the coronavirus pandemic.
“We are excited to see this movie come to life in the cinemas having shot it since 2020 during COVID. We hope that people resonate with the message we are passing through the movie and get enlightened on it,” she said.
The premiere of the movie was graced by several top actors including Daniel Effiong, Shalewa Ashafa, Amanda Dara, Blossom Chukwuejekwu, Bucci Franklin, and Lyndsey Efejeku, the director.
