Ezelekhae Ewuare, the prince of Benin Kingdom, has filed a petition against Cynthia Morgan, the singer.
The petition was addressed to Funsho Adegboye, the Edo state commissioner of police, and submitted through Ewuare’s lawyers at Ekikhalo Chambers.
In the petition dated May 4, the Benin prince accused Morgan of defamation, cyberstalking and harassment.
Ewuare claimed that the songstress has been “desperately trying to contact” him against his will since 2020.
He alleged that Morgan called him “a wicked prince who was bewitching and oppressing her in her dreams”, while harassing him on different social media platforms.
Ewuare claimed she tried to contact him through various telephone lines, which he said he immediately blocked.
Ewuare’s lawyers pleaded with the commissioner of police to “apprehend and thoroughly investigate” Morgan.
The lawyers also urged the police to prosecute the singer, adding that she “must be cautioned from further trying to contact” the Benin prince.
“The said Cynthia Ikponmwenosa Morgan has gone as far as physically trailing our client to his work place and when she saw him she was not getting the attention she so desperately seeks,” the petition reads.
“She resorted to publishing lies, slurry and other defamatory statements against him on her Instagram story sometime in 2020 and has continued such publications till date.
“Our client is a Nigerian who is entitled to his constitutionally guaranteed right to privacy. Our Client just wants to enjoy his right to privacy and be left alone from whatever crisis of the mind Cynthia Morgan may be going through.
“She recently reached out again by text on the 3rd of May 2024 and was saying things that pertain to someone who is suffering from an illness of the mind and insane delusions.
“She stated thus amongst other things: I know true love surpasses all but you have never shown me this true love in real life? So why are you in my dreams?
“It is clear that Cynthia Morgan is obsessed with our client and this might be linked to some form of mental trauma, which makes her a very dangerous person at the moment.”
