It is already three weeks into the 2022 Big Brother Nigeria (BBNaija) reality TV show.

After a relatively uneventful start, the ‘Level Up’ edition is gradually living up to the expectations of many fans in terms of dramas and controversies.

TheCable Lifestyle examines major talking points from the second week of the show.

Beauty’s disqualification

It was not the outing Beauty expected while going into one of Africa’s biggest reality TV shows.

The 23-year-old lawyer from Taraba state was sent packing from the house on Sunday evening.

Her disqualification came after she was issued a double strike — a few minutes before the live eviction show.

Beauty was punished for an altercation she had with Groovy during Saturday night’s party.

The lawyer got her first strike after she pulled the hair of Ilebaye, her fellow housemate.

Her ouster from the house came as a shock to many of her colleagues and the show’s lovers.

With the development, she joined the likes of Tacha and Erica who were also disqualified from the show in previous editions.

Growing situationships

The second week in the BBNaija house witnessed growing intimacy among housemates.

Until Beauty’s disqualification, her budding relationship with Groovy had left tongues wagging. The pair were seen on several occasions having fun in bed while they also shared passionate kisses.

But they are not the only ones. There’s also a growing romantic bond between Eloswag and Phyna as well as Cyph — another evicted housemate — and Doyin.

Doyin had earlier expressed her feelings for Sheggz. With more weeks to go in the house, there is a possibility of more romantic relationships emerging between housemates.

Can any of such relationships stand the test of time? Time will tell.

First eviction headache

Eviction is always a nightmare to housemates although there’s nothing they can do about it.

Two weeks into the house, Christy O and Cyph were sent packing on Sunday during the show’s first live eviction.

The pair were put up for possible eviction by Hermes, the week’s head of house (HoH), alongside Phyna, Amaka, and Khalid.

They were evicted from the show after garnering the lowest votes for the week.

Biggie’s unending twists

Twists have become an integral part of the show. They keep the housemates and audience in suspense and glued to the show.

This year’s edition of the show has already witnessed several twists.

The latest was the introduction of Rachael and Chizzy into the house on Sunday.

Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, the host, had said the two housemates identified as “riders” are agents of Biggie, the instructive voice behind the show.

Ebuka said the pair cannot be disqualified and are also not eligible to win the show’s grand prize.

Biggie had earlier introduced Deji and Modella into the show as fake housemates.

The winner of this year’s edition of the show will go home with a grand prize of N100 million — the highest ever since the inception of BBNaija.

N50 million is the cash prize while the other N50 million is an estimation of the prizes from the sponsors.
