Lagos-based beauty brand Nuban Cares has launched an artificial intelligence application to analyse skin and recommend treatment products.

The AI skin decoder was unveiled at the 17th Lagos Make-Up Fair, held at the Classique Event Centre.

The fair, which hosted over 60 exhibitors, featured the launch of numerous products, but the AI skin decoder by Nuban Cares emerged as a standout innovation.

Stella Ndekile, founder and CEO of Nuban Cares, said the product also recommends solutions to the problems analysed by the AI.

She stated that the application is designed to democratize skincare access across Nigeria.

“I have an AI analyser that I use in analysing skin. I see clients a lot when I use the hardware component of the skin analyser machine. I noticed it really helps in diagnosing clients’ problems, treating, and recommending products,” said Ndekile, a medical aesthetician.

“Products do 70% of the job while treatment does 30 to 50%. I needed something that democratises skin care. People do not have to be restricted to some certain locations in Nigeria for treatment.

“AI is the future. It can only get better from here. What I am doing right now is like a base that people would build on. With time, it will grow from recommending products to telling the type of treatment required.”

Event organiser Omolola Faleye highlighted the launch as a significant step for the beauty industry, noting that 12 brands introduced new products at the fair.

Faleye also commended Ndekile for the application, stressing its importance for the event and the industry at large.

“This edition is special because it is our summer edition. And also because we have 12 amazing brands launching products here today. And among them is Nuban Cares, who is launching something in beauty-tech,” she said.

“It is the AI-skin decoder, which is a super amazing tool. That is a very beautiful innovation for the beauty industry.

“For our Lagos events, we usually would have about 3500 attendees.”

The company also urged the public to download the application here.
