Erica brought the revelation to light on Thursday during a diary session with Wathoni, a fellow housemate, who stood in for Biggie, the instructive voice behind the show’s screen.

The former head of house (HoH) recalled that someone chatted her up on Instagram to bring her attention to the fact that they both shared the same surname and facial appearance.

She added that the person, who was not in Nigeria then, had requested to meet her upon her return to the country.

Erica said she was looking forward to meeting a random social media friend but ended up finding out that the person was her cousin.

“Someone contacted me on Instagram saying we have the same surname, look and think we are related. She asked me for my state and village and when l told her, she said it was the same as hers. She consequently asked that she would like to meet me when she comes to Nigeria, which l agreed,” she said.

“I thought l was just going to meet a new Instagram friend. When she met me, she asked for my father’s name and because l have not met my dad, l just told him the name. She said the name sounded familiar and needed to call her own father. By the time she was done calling, l discovered that my father was a nephew to the person’s dad.”

She explained that through the encounter, she was able to get her father’s contact.

Erica revealed she had been “actively searching” for her father since she was 15 years old but got his contact at 23.

She went on to recount her excitement at finally getting to meet her father, adding that it was a “feeling l couldn’t explain.”

Erica is among the housemates considered favourite to win this year’s edition of the show.

She was recently listed alongside Laycon and Nengi as the most-searched housemates of BBNaija show, according to Google search trends.
