The Savanna Comics’ Choice Awards is the annual gathering of top players in the South African stand-up comedy industry. Handing out plaques in only eleven categories, the award is highly prestigious.

Skhumba Hlophe was the biggest winner of the night, taking home comic of the year and flying Solo award.

Loyiso Gola won the breakthrough award while Cyril Green was honoured with the lifetime achiever award.

Mojak Lehoko took home the comic’s pen award ahead of Trevor Noah while Salesman walked away with the non-English award.

The audience choice award went to Elton Mduduzi Ntuli while the newcomer award was won by Thabiso Mhlongo just as Ebenhaezer Dibakwane clinched the intermediate award.

Basketmouth will be touring six cities in Canada in October for his flagship ‘Lords of The Ribs’ show.
