The party has also rescheduled its primaries for some other constituencies in Imo, Benue, and Katsina states.

Earlier, the party held primaries to elect candidates for the national and state assembly seats.

But in a statement on Saturday, PDP said approval had been granted to repeat the primaries in some federal and state constituencies.

Debo Ologunagba, PDP’s national publicity secretary, said the decision followed deliberations on the reports of the electoral and appeal panels on the congresses in the affected states.

He said the National Working Committee (NWC) approved the repeat primaries as follows:

  • Lagos State House of Representatives Primaries (24 federal constituencies)

For Lagos, all 24 federal constituencies are affected by the repeat primaries.

Earlier, confusion had trailed the victory of Banky W, the musician, at the PDP primary for the Eti-Osa federal constituency in Lagos.

He had clinched the party’s ticket to contest after polling 28 out of 31 votes cast by delegates.

But in a dramatic twist, the election’s final result submitted at the PDP headquarters in Abuja recorded that the singer only secured seven votes while the winner polled 23 votes.

A repeat primary gives Banky W a second chance at vying for the PDP’s ticket.
