Grammy-winning Puerto Rican music star Bad Bunny will headline 2026 Super Bowl half-time show in California.

The NFL announced on Sunday that Bad Bunny will lead the halftime festivities from Levi’s Stadium on February 8 in Santa Clara.

“What I’m feeling goes beyond myself,” the rapper said in a statement .

“It’s for those who came before me and ran countless yards so I could come in and score a touchdown. This is for my people, my culture, and our history.”

Switching into his native Spanish, the pop star, born Benito Antonio Martinez Ocasio, added: “Ve y dile a tu abuela, que seremos el halftime show del Super Bowl,” which means: “Go tell your grandma we’re going to be the Super Bowl half-time show”.

On his part, Jay-Z, whose Roc Nation company picks the half-time performer and produces their show, said what Bad Bunny has “done and continues to do for Puerto Rico is truly inspiring”.

“We are honoured to have him on the world’s biggest stage,” he added.

The Super Bowl halftime show has a storied history of featuring the biggest names in music, from legends like Michael Jackson, Prince, and the Rolling Stones to more recent performers such as Beyoncé, Jennifer Lopez, and Kendrick Lamar.

Bad Bunny, who has won three Grammy Awards, previously appeared as a guest act alongside Lopez at the 2020 Super Bowl in Miami.
