Baba Suwe, whose real name is Babatunde Omidina, passed away on Monday after a long battle with an undisclosed ailment.

Shortly after news of his death broke, Adesola had shared a video of him mourning his father online.

In the now-viral clip, Adesola, who could be seen filming the actor’s corpse amid tears, had said his father passed away after he got no help from family and friends.

“There’s no friend nor family, we called but none responded. My father is finally gone. I’m grateful, I won’t say more than this but may my father’s soul rest in peace,” he had said.

His action had stirred a wave of criticism on social media, as many Nigerians accused him of “disrespecting” the late actor.

A social media user had called him a “clout chaser who dishonoured his father’s corpse for likes and comments.”

But in a post via his Instagram page on Tuesday, Adesola retracted his earlier comment and apologised for sharing his father’s corpse online.

“As the son of the veteran actor late Babatunde Omidina ‘Baba Suwe’ I am genuinely issuing this statement to denounce and condemn the video(s) about Baba Suwe’s death that has been wrongly posted,” he wrote.

“The Nollywood, TAMPAN, the government, Prophets, family and fans have been supportive in their own ways. I tender an apology to all the groups, people and families affected! Again, please disregard any inappropriate ‘video’ circulating social media.”
