Ayra Starr, the Afrobeats singer, has demanded justice for the female student of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) who was murdered.
The student, identified as Christiana Idowu, was reportedly abducted last month in Lagos.
The undergraduate was said to have visited the state to undertake her mandatory industrial training when she went missing.
It was reported that her abductor had demanded a ransom of N3 million but her parents negotiated to pay N350,000.
Idowu, who was aged 21, was however killed in captivity despite her parents paying the sum.
Reacting to the incident in a post via X, Ayra Starr called for better treatment of women in society.
The songstress also demanded justice for Idowu.
“Stop killing us! Stop raping us! Women deserve better #JusticeForChristianah,” she wrote.
Earlier today, the police in Lagos arrested Ayomide Adeleye, Idowu’s alleged killer.
Ben Hundeyin, Lagos police PRO, identified the suspect as a 23-year-old. He said there is an ongoing investigation into the matter.
It was gathered that Adeleye was tracked down and apprehended with the aid of bank account details he provided for the ransom payment.
The suspect was arrested at the residence of his parents in Ikorodu.
A smartphone belonging to Idowu was found on the suspect alongside transaction details relating to the kidnapping incident.
At the scene of the arrest, the suspect confessed to killing Idowu and burying her in a shallow grave within the compound.
