Austin Faani, the filmmaker and husband of Chacha Eke, has wondered why actresses are not allegedly campaigning for Funke Akindele.

In July 2022, Akindele confirmed she is the running mate to Olajide ‘Jandor’ Adediran, the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Lagos, ahead of next month’s elections.

Adediran and Akindele started their grassroots campaigns and ward tours on October 19.

They have so far visited several parts of the state.

In an Instagram post on Thursday, Faani wondered “if it could be envy” that is preventing actresses from rallying around in support of Akindele.

“Funke Akindele’s colleagues are not campaigning for her, especially the female celebrities,” he wrote.

“Could it be envy or what? We can post her film but not her political ambition. Arnold Schwarzenegger was once the governor of California.”

Faani also declared his support for Akindele while saying he believes she will deliver a good job if elected.

“Y’all think she is not capable? I trust she will do better than all the previous Deputy Governors of Lagos put together. Vote my Colleague. Vote PDP Vote Jandor and Funke,” he added.

Akindele earlier said she ventured into politics to save Lagos and its residents from “bad governance”.

The actress cum politician said her latest production, ‘Battle On Buka Street’ is a farewell to the movie industry.

Akindele said she has “passed the baton of production” to the young ones in the industry in order to focus on her political aspiration.
