Atiku Abubakar, former vice-president and Bukola Saraki, ex-senate president, have hailed Davido, the music star, for donating N250 million to orphanage homes in the country.
The ‘OBO’ crooner, born David Adeleke, clocked 29 on Sunday.
Earlier in the week, the award-winning singer had announced a fundraiser, which he initially said was for the clearance of his Rolls Royce vehicle at the ports.
But after raking N200 million from the initiative, he added N50 million and declared that the funds would be used to support orphans.
The gesture has continued to fetch him commendations from Nigerians on social media.
Joining the fray in an Instagram post, Atiku commended the ‘Dami Duro’ singer for his mantra of lifting others in need.
He also celebrated Davido’s career strides in the global music landscape while wishing him a blissful birthday.
“Dear @davido, thank you for making the lifting of others a cornerstone of your endeavour. I join your family and friends and millions of your fans in wishing you a memorable birthday. I wish you more years in good health, more award-winning music and, above all, lifting others,” he wrote.
On his part, Saraki lauded the ‘Risky’ crooner for his efforts to make positive impact in the society over the years.
The former senate president said Davido has always demonstrated the willingness to achieve what others consider as impossible while growing up.
“This past week on @Instagram, we all watched @Davido ‘playfully’ raise N200 million from his friends, business associates, and other well-wishers — then donate N250 million to orphans across the country,” he wrote in a Twitter thread.
“Since he was a young boy, @Davido has always had a persuasive charm, a great deal of talent and energy, and the ability to accomplish what others describe as ‘impossible’ — through his sheer grit and hard work.
“As he celebrates his birthday today, I congratulate @Davido for becoming a fine young man who continues to positively impact lives through his music and philanthropy. May almighty God continue to reward your efforts.”

Greetings to every one here what I have to say is that Davidio have started is political Ambition to contest as either Governor Or Senetor or house of Rep member what you guys should know is that giving the money gain from contributor to less previllage is a welcome Development but how many less previllage in Nigeria will received this kind of gesture from Davido because we have 36 state and every hock and corner of each state have less previllage once. What Davido should have done is to plight the money to the 36 state in the federation and sort for less previllage home and give them the money by him self because what I heard or read in Nigeria newspaper sometimes is funny. Well He has done well and let young other artist emulate him.
