Asake has reacted to the death of a 20-year-old woman during his concert at Nyayo National Stadium in Nairobi, Kenya.

The lady, identified as Karen Lojore, was reportedly crushed to death near one of the stadium’s entry points after a brief stampede occurred as fans attempted to access the venue.

Reacting via Instagram Story, the Afrobeats star said he was devastated by her death and extended his condolences to the family, friends and loved ones of the deceased.

“I am devastated by the tragic incident that took place at the festival on Dec 20th in Nairobi,” he wrote.

“My heart goes out to the family, friends, and loved ones of Karen Lojore, and I pledge to support and do my best to understand what happened. Those responsible should be held accountable.”

Asake said music has always been his way of spreading love and joy, describing the incident as “heartbreaking”.

He added that his thoughts are with everyone grieving and prayed that the late Karen rests in peace.

This is the second incident where life has been lost in a crowd stampede at one of Asake’s concerts.

In December 2022, the security at Asake’s O2 Brixton concert was breached in a stampede, leading to the deaths of two women.
