An Ikeja chief magistrate court has remanded an Arabic teacher for allegedly sexually molesting his 11-year-old pupil through the anus.
According to NAN, the teacher, 28, identified as Mohammed Algoni, is being detained at the Kirikiri correctional centre.
B. O Osunsanmi, the chief magistrate, during the sitting on Monday, refused to listen to the defendant‘s plea.
She ordered him to be remanded in Kirikiri until September 28 for the director of public prosecution’s advice.
The defendant, who resides at 29, Akinwunmi street, Ifako Gbagada, Lagos, is being tried for sodomy.
Raji Akeem (ASP), the prosecutor, told the court that the offence was committed in June at Ifako, Lagos.
Akeem said the victim, who is an Arabic boarding school student, came home for Sallah break to tell his mother that he wasn’t going back to school again.
He also said the victim told his mother how the defendant, who is one of his teachers, “has been sexually penetrating his anus.”
The prosecutor said that the offence was reported at the police station and the defendant was arrested.
The offence, according to the prosecutor, contravened section 261 of the criminal laws of Lagos state, 2015.
