The US consulate general in Lagos says it is looking for a suitable and experienced candidate to fill the position of consulate general residence (CGR) chef and manager.
The job application was announced in a statement released on Thursday.
The successful candidate will be required to work 40 hours a week (full-time) and be placed on a salary of $10,764 per year.
Applicants are required to have completed their secondary school education and must be able to speak and read in the English language.
The candidates must have a minimum of five years of experience as chefs in the catering, restaurant or hospitality industry. Management or supervisory experience is also required.
Other requirements include basic computer skills, the ability to manage large budgets for official events and conduct an inventory of household appliances, as well as good interpersonal and customer service skills.
The CGR chef and manager will be responsible for the preparation of meals, supervision of staff, and preparation for events.
According to the application, “the incumbent establishes, directs and supervises the work schedule and performance of a staff of two (2) Official Residence Expense (ORE) staff working for the Consul General.
“Prepares weekly menus for family and regular family meals. Proposes menu and budget for representational dinners, small events and receptions and is responsible for food procurement and preparation for those events.
“Maintains pay accounts for the ORE staff. Keeps attendance, such as annual leave days,
over-time, and comp time. Supervises the installation, repair and upkeep of residential furnishings, equipment and appliances.
“Is responsible for the safekeeping and inventory of food, beverages and household supplies
for the residence. Maintains an inventory of all residential crystal, flatware, silverware and linens.
“Responsible for maintaining a record of expenses and related receipts associated with the
upkeep of official residence. Serves as liaison with the protocol office for official functions held at the Residence and with the Financial Management Office on matters pertaining to ORE and expenses.
“Serves as liaison with the Human Resources Office in regard to hiring and salary
determination for all new ORE staff. Assists in escorting contractors and guests at the Residence as may be required.”
