He, however, said the cause of death was not revealed by the filmmaker’s family.
“They did not reveal it o, they said he had an ailment. His family did not tell us. You know he is not our member, those who are close to him said he died in Owerri,” he said.
The movie producer and marketer had been battling with a prolonged ailment. It is understood that his corpse has been deposited at the Aladinma mortuary in Owerri.
Best hailed from Umunkwo village in Isiala Mbano LGA of Imo state. He was the CEO of Andy Best Production, one of the most prominent film production companies in Nigeria.
He has put out hundreds of movies including ‘The Lion of Africa’, ‘White Poison’, ‘My Father’s Cup’, ‘My Father’s Love’ among others.
Best’s demise came a few weeks after the death of John ‘Mr Ibu’ Okafor, the ace Nollywood actor.
Mr Ibu died from a cardiac arrest on March 2 at Evercare Hospital in Lagos. The 62-year-old actor had battled with a life-threatening illness for months before he passed on.
