Amber Heard, the US actress, has dismissed claims that she has been removed from ‘Aquaman 2’.
There have been growing calls for her removal from the project billed to debut in March 2023.
On Tuesday, Just Jared, the online platform, alleged the 36-year-old actress, who acted as Mera in the sequel to the 2018 sci-fi, alongside Jason Momoa, had been dropped from the project.
The outlet also claimed that Warner Bros “screen-tested the movie” and concluded that Heard’s scenes should be reshot with another actress.
It alleged the new actress would play Mera in ‘Aquaman 2’ and any future DC films.
“Warner Bros. decided to recast Amber Heard’s role after screen-testing the movie. They are going to be doing reshoots with Jason Momoa and Nicole Kidman,” the outlet had quoted an insider as saying.
But reacting, Heard’s spokesperson dismissed the claim. She also described the rumours as “slightly insane.”
“The rumor mill continues as it has from day one — inaccurate, insensitive, and slightly insane,” the spokesperson told TMZ.
The development comes a few days after Johnny Depp, her ex-husband, won his defamation case against her.
The actor sued Heard for defamation, accusing her of “name-calling” that often escalated into physical violence.
Depp said a 2018 domestic violence piece written by Heard in The Washington Post implied he was abusive.
Heard didn’t name the actor but Depp’s lawyers said her allegations made it difficult for him to land acting roles.
Depp’s defamation suit went to a trial on April 11 and ended on June 1, with the actor’s victory over Heard.
Heard would thereafter register her “disappointment” with the verdict which she said was a “setback for women”.
