Five students of Adeyemi College of Education, Ondo state, have been arrested for allegedly raping a female colleague of theirs.
The victim was a student in the department of history and English.
They were arrested by the Ondo state police command.
Olakunle Adetuyi, Timilehin Akinola, Tobi Olagbaju, Adeyemi Adebisi and Eric Nwage were revealed as the suspects.
The suspects were said to have recorded video of the rape, which was used to threaten the victim if she reported to anyone.
The incident took place last week Monday in Funbi-Fagun housing estate, Ondo state.
Hilda Ibifuro-Harrison, state police commissioner, said the victim had been taken to a hospital for treatment, adding that the suspects would be charged to court.
She said the rape case was reported to the university authorities, after which the police detectives arrested the four culprits.
“One of the suspects, Olakunle, took a video of their heinous crime as they took turns on their victim one after the other, and later abandoned her and threatened that they would use charms on her if she ever revealed the incident to anyone,” Ibifuro-Harrison said.
“The phone and charms used in perpetrating the crime were recovered and the case was transferred to the Department of Criminal Investigation.”
