Adesua Etomi, the actress and wife of singer Banky W, has recalled her personal experience with hyperemesis gravidarum, a severe form of pregnancy-related nausea and vomiting.
The film star spoke via Instagram in response to the story of Jess Cronshaw, a 24-year-old UK-based woman who took her own life after battling the condition.
In the post, Adesua described hyperemesis gravidarum as a “serious condition” that affects the quality of life.
She expressed frustration that people often take the condition lightly, not understanding its severity.
The actress also credited her husband Banky W, medical doctors, family, and friends for their support during her healing process.
“When I talk about the seriousness of hyperemesis gravidarum, people don’t get it and I hate it. Grateful for my husband, my doctors, family and friends that rallied around me,” she wrote.
“It is not ordinary morning sickness. It is a serious condition that literally affects the quality of your life.”

Hyperemesis gravidarum is characterized by persistent and extreme nausea and vomiting, often resulting in significant weight loss and dehydration. While some cases can be managed at home, severe instances may require hospitalization and intravenous fluid therapy.
Adesua and Banky W, who tied the knot in 2017, welcomed their first child, Hazaiah, in 2021.
The couple recently relocated to the United States and announced the birth of their second child in October.
