Enoch Adeboye, the general overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), has taken to social media to celebrate his 80th birthday.

In a series of posts on Twitter, the highly respected clergyman appreciated God for His mercy and protection upon his life for eight decades.

“For 80 years of Divine Protection, Thank you Jesus, Thank you Lord,” he wrote.

“For 80 years of Divine Mercy, Thank you Jesus, Thank you Lord.”

A number of Nigerians have begun to flood the comment section of the tweets to celebrate him on the special occasion.

Adeboye was born on March 2, 1942, in Ifewara, Osun state.

He joined the RCCG in 1973 and served as an interpreter before he was ordained a pastor by Pa. Josiah Akindayomi in 1975.

He rose to the rank of the general overseer of the RCCG in 1981 and has so far planted branches in about 196 nations including more than 14,000,000 in Nigeria.

The Osun state indigene obtained a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics from the then University of Ife now (Obafemi Awolowo University) in 1967.

In 1969, he also obtained a master’s degree in Hydrodynamics from the University of Lagos (UNILAG) and went further to obtain a PhD in Applied Mathematics from the same university.

He holds a position as a professor of Mathematics at UNILAG.

Adeboye is married to Foluke and their union is blessed with four children.
