Ganiyu Oyeyemi, the ace Yoruba actor better known as Ogunjimi, has passed away.
Ogunjimi’s demise was confirmed by Kunle Afod, the Nollywood filmmaker, in a post via Instagram on Friday.
“We tried our best but God loves you more. May his soul rest in peace. Baba Ogunjinmi, RIP, Sun re oooo,” he wrote.

The cause of death is, however, yet to be revealed.
Since January 2024, Nollywood has lost more than eight actors including Mr Ibu, Amaechi Muonagor, Junior Pope, and Sisi Quadri.
Others who lost their lives include Olofa Ina, Adejumoke Aderounmu, Saratu Gidado, and Ethel Ekpe.
The Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) earlier announced a four-day fasting and prayer session with Jerry Eze, the Streams of Joy International founder, against deaths in Nollywood.
Rollas said “actors cannot continue to die like chickens,” adding that prayers are needed to avert more deaths in the industry.
He urged Nollywood actors and their supporters to join the programme to “deal with this ugly reproach”.
The prayer session will be held at the M & M Center in Garki, Abuja from May 2 to 5.
