Iya Ile Okan, the veteran Nollywood actress, has passed away.

Kunle Afod, the actor, announced her passing in a recent post on his Instagram page.

Sharing a video of her, Afod expressed sorrow over her demise and prayed for the repose of her soul.

“We finally lost her. May her perfect soul continue to rest in peace. Iya Ile Okan, it’s a final wrap,” he wrote.

Fans and colleagues have since taken to the comment section to mourn the actress and offer their condolences.

The actress’ death comes barely a year after Afod visited her home in Ogun state. She had also opened up about her struggles since leaving Nollywood.

In August, the actor had revisited her as her health was deteriorating rapidly. She disclosed that she had fallen ill and could not afford the medical bills.

Afod also appealed to the public for donations and financial assistance on her behalf, adding that she needed “God’s intervention”.

Iya Ile Okan had a career that spanned decades. She appeared in several Yoruba films and was respected for her ability to portray traditional roles.

Her death comes a few months after ace actor Chief Karan also passed away.
