The Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) in Zaria, Kaduna has appointed Alhassan Garba as its acting registrar.
According to NAN, Garba’s appointment takes effect on Thursday after the expiration of the tenure of Abdullahi-Ahmed Kundila, former registrar, on June 2.
Auwalu Umar, the university’s director of public affairs directorate, in a statement, said the appointment was in recognition of Garba’s commitment to work and leadership qualities.
Until his appointment, Garba, who was born on June 26, 1961, was the secretary of the ABU institute of administration.
He hails from Tudun Wada, Zaria LGA, Kaduna. He is a graduate of Law from ABU and was called to the bar in 1996.
“Garba joined the services of the university on November 2, 1984 as an executive officer in charge of administration,’’ the statement added.
“On November 5, 1997, he was re-designated as administrative assistant in the registry and rose through the ranks to the position of deputy registrar in 2012.
“Garba was at various times an officer in the academic affairs department rising to become the academic secretary of the university.
