Chioma Ifemeludike, the Nigerian actress and filmmaker better known as IfeDike, is set to contest for the highest office in Anambra state in the November 8 governorship election.
The movie producer was announced as the flagbearer of the African Action Congress (AAC), positioning her to compete against incumbent Governor Chukwuma Soludo and other candidates. Ifemeludike ascended to the party’s candidacy after serving as its state chairperson.
A PROFILE IN TENACITY
Ifemeludike’s journey to the political forefront is rooted in an academic background in Political Science from Anambra State University. Born in Anambra state, the actress was raised by her mother after losing her father at a young age.

Her creative career spans over a decade, launched by the production of her YouTube series, ‘Corpers Heaven’, which was inspired by her National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) experience. A proponent of indigenous storytelling, she is known for producing movies in the Igbo language and has credits in films such as ‘Painful Truth’, ‘Commissioner for Happiness’, ‘Mortuary Gate’, ‘Plantain Girl’ and ‘Made in Heaven’.
THE POLITICAL MANIFESTO
Dismissing claims of inexperience, Ifemeludike, in a recent interview, pointed to her political background: her history as a “female unionist” and her tenure as AAC chairperson.
She described her nomination not as a surprise, but as the result of preparation and grassroots connection.
“I have been passionate about the people,” she said.
“I was not surprised because I was chairperson before I became a candidate. I was the only female in the lineup of our party.
“Delegates and grassroots representatives voted me… It was something I walked into and prepared for.
“As a chairperson, I get to see the level of hardship and poverty in the grassroots. I knew nature was calling me to an assignment I do not take for granted.”
She said her manifesto centres on tangible social interventions, including the introduction of solar power initiatives, subsidised school fees, educational loans and grants for indigent students, and a reinforced focus on state security.
NAVIGATING CONTROVERSY
The actress is no stranger to the spotlight, most notably in 2021 when she claimed she had an intimate relationship with clergyman Johnson Suleman.
She alleged that the encounter was arranged by a colleague Lynda-Clems Bishop, and stated she came forward because her conscience “couldn’t hold it anymore”.

“Good morning, Nigerians. I have a confession. On the 20th of November 2016, Linda made an arrangement for me to come to Ikeja and that we’re going to meet her sister’s friend, and a family friend going to America,” she said in an Instagram video.
“That was what she told me. Okay, so it was supposed to be a hook-up. But it wasn’t really exactly put like that.
“Well, she told me that a family friend of hers wanted to meet someone nice and cool. And that he was going to America that same night and that he wasn’t going to waste much time and he wanted me to meet that person. And I said fine.”
She captioned the post: “Dear @lyndaclems, I have to tell the world about that hookup you arranged between @johnson_suleman_official and myself on the 20th November 2016 in a hotel at Ikeja, the Apostle secretly gave me his number and we had a second meeting at Oriental Hotels Lagos.
“I’m sorry my conscience can’t hold it anymore. I encourage you to tell the truth as a mother and a Christian, to put the devil to shame and save millions of souls being misled.
“To my family and friends, I am sorry, don’t judge me. Please pray for me so the light of God will continue to expose every work of darkness in my life and the church of God.”
In the same year, she also made headlines after sharing a personal story about encountering demonic oppression in her sleep, which she attributed to having watched explicit content online earlier that evening.

As the November 8 election approaches, Ifemeludike’s campaign represents a fusion of her populist appeal, grassroots political experience, and a promise to bring a fresh perspective to the governance of Anambra.
