Jennifer Lopez, the US actress and singer, says her past marriages taught her an important lesson about love and self-worth.

Speaking on The Howard Stern Show on SiriusXM, Lopez, 56, said she realised that her failed relationships were because her former partners were “not capable”.

“What I learned, it’s not that I’m not lovable. It’s that they’re not capable,” she said.

“They don’t have it in them. They need to appreciate the little person inside of them. They need to love them.”

Lopez, who has been married four times, said she has lived much of her life in the public eye and has often been open about her relationships.

The Hollywood star, however, admitted that she now prefers to keep her personal life private.

“And I wanted to share my life with someone. I want someone to be there when I’m having my big important moments on the red carpet,” she said.

“In the past few years I feel like I want to keep that part so much more quiet in my life. The truth is, when you’re in this type of career and you have the type of level of fame that we’re talking about, there is a compromise.”

When asked if she would consider joining the celebrity dating app Raya, the mother-of-two responded saying, “No, I don’t want that”.

“I don’t know. I’m just old-fashioned, I guess,” Lopez added.

Earlier this year, Lopez and actor Ben Affleck officially divorced after two years of marriage.

Lopez filed for divorce in August 2024. She listed April 26, as their date of separation and cited irreconcilable differences as the reason for the split.

Lopez was first married to Cuban-born waiter Ojani Noa (1997-1998).

She then married her former backup dancer Cris Judd (2001-2003); and Marc Anthony, the singer with whom she has twins (2004-2014).
