Gtext Homes and Gtext Lands, leading subsidiaries of Gtext Holdings, on Saturday, commemorated a significant milestone: their 10th anniversary.
The grand celebration brought together notable dignitaries, loyal customers, and key stakeholders to reflect on a journey of remarkable growth and to unveil ambitious plans for the future.
Founded by Stephen Akintayo, the company has established itself as a major force in real estate with a presence in Nigeria, the UK, the US, and Dubai.
At the event, Akintayo recounted the group’s 17-year journey as a digital marketing firm before its pivotal entry into real estate a decade later. He also recalled the early days of selling land in Ikorodu, Lagos state.
“We thank God for his faithfulness. We started with a dream, and today, we’ve achieved more than we ever thought possible,” he said.
“We were literally pointing at least three kilometres away into the waters to be telling customers that that’s where our land will start from. And some people still believed in us.
“It’s the trust level we’ve enjoyed, the faith we’ve enjoyed. Even moving to Dubai, it was still our customers as well. We were like, we trust you. We want you in Dubai. And we thank God we sold over $100 million worth of properties in Dubai.”
Attributing success to adaptability and innovation, Akintayo also outlined the company’s vision for the next decade.
“We’re heavily diversifying into different sectors, including housing, education, healthcare, and retail,” he said. “Our goal is to build 25,000 houses in Africa in the next 10 years.”
Also speaking, Bukola Lukan, the group CEO of Gtext Holdings, emphasised the company’s commitment to building strong relationships with its clients and partners.
“It’s been a beautiful journey,” she said.
“Dr. Stephen had a dream, and he’s been running ever since then, and he’s still running to ensure that the dream comes to reality, and a part of it is what we’ve seen today.
“Relationships with our vendors, with our clients, with a lot of industries as well, are very important to us.”
The company’s impact was echoed by clients like Zaaki Azzay, who praised Akintayo’s entrepreneurial spirit and commitment to social responsibility.
“We’re looking forward to the next beautiful 10 years, with the theme, built to last,” he said.
“Dr. Stephen Akintayo is a very God-fearing person who rose from grass to greatness, who worked very hard and given the very poor or very wretched or poverty background that he came from and what he has achieved so far.”
Azzay also commended the company’s efforts in providing training and skills acquisition programmes for young people.
“I saw the place in Epe, it’s a school for artisans. All the people that are like bricklayers, carpenters, you know, there’s a school there for them,” he said.
“It’s almost free, you know. So I think given what I have suffered, I have been fortunate to build a house in Lagos.”
The anniversary celebration was graced by notable personalities, including Ruggedman, Simi Jay, and EmmaOMG, who led sessions of praise.
Some customers were also rewarded with prizes ranging from laptops and iPhones to expense-paid trips and access to the Stephen Akintayo University (SAU).
Last year, Akintayo shared his journey as a businessman growing “from one estate to over 30 across 7 states in Nigeria and also in the USA. From 1 employee to over 300 in 4 continents, namely Africa, UK, Dubai for the Middle East, USA for the Americas”.
