The singer, born Charles Chibueze Chukwu, made the revelation in a lengthy social media post, describing July 4, the day of her death, as the “darkest day of my life.”

He referred to his late mother as his “soldier, backbone, and pillar.”

“July 4th was the darkest day of my life. I lost my soldier, my backbone, my angel and my pillar,” he said.

“My best friend, the best woman I have ever loved, my favourite person in the world. I lost my mum.”

Crayon recounted that he had spoken with her days before, and she “sounded so healthy” while offering her usual monthly prayers for him.

He expressed his anguish over seeing her lifeless body at the hospital, calling it the image that “broke me to pieces” and his “greatest fear.”

The singer questioned the timing of her death, especially coming just four days before his birthday, and when life was beginning to get better for the family after years of struggle.

He described his mother’s death as an “everlasting scar” that has completely changed his life.

“You always said we should never question God, but that’s all I’ve done since that day. Mummy, I don ask God why tire! Why now? Why you? Why me? Why us? How?” he questioned.

“After all the suffer wey we don suffer for decades, na now wey God don bless us, you come die leave me? Now wey you suppose dey eat the fruits of your labour ehn!

“I will never be the same, I’m scarred for life. Nothing will ever be the same. Every milestone I hit will never be the same, every achievement will never be the same. This is an everlasting scar I’m never going to heal from.”

Crayon, who was signed to Mavin Records in 2019, promised to stay strong and care for the family.

He is known for hit singles such as ‘So Fine’, ‘Ijo Labalaba’, and ‘Tele’.
