The maiden edition of the summit was held at Detutu Event Centre in the Ogudu area of Lagos on October 3.

At the summit, Afolabi emphasised that while love is vital in marriage, money remains the foundation that keeps it stable.

She also highlighted the link between financial stability and marital harmony, noting that many couples struggle because they overlook the role of money in maintaining peace at home.

“Many couples underestimate how much daily peace relies on stable financial systems,” she said.

“God designed marriage not just for companionship, but for purpose. And that purpose can’t be fulfilled in survival mode.”

She shared findings from her own research, which revealed that “financial conflict remains one of the leading causes of marital breakdown in Nigeria”.

According to her data, when partners support each other, it strengthens their confidence and helps both their relationship and business goals thrive, especially when there is emotional and financial understanding between them.

One of the keynote speakers, Olumide Emmanuel, a pastor, advocated a kingdom-based marriage model built on shared understanding, transparency, and mutual respect, especially in managing finances.

Beyond the keynote speeches, the summit tackled cultural taboos around discussing money in marriage through engaging panel sessions, couples’ games, personal testimonies, and research-driven presentations.
