Iyanya, the Nigerian singer, has put out his new single titled ‘Sorry’ and featuring Fido.
The track, which officially dropped on all streaming platforms this Friday, serves as the latest preview of his highly anticipated album ‘The Forester’s Son’.
In ‘Sorry,’ Iyanya masterfully merges his signature smooth Afropop style with Fido’s raw and gritty energy.
The collaboration creates a powerful and dynamic sound, balancing melodic hooks with profound lyrical depth.
The song’s poignant lyrics touch on themes of betrayal, resilience, and ultimate triumph.
“There has been a lot of faking/ So many hearts to break me/ The last you checked I am on deflate/ See them start to drag about my rate/ Mummy make you dance cus I made it/ I have gone through the fire meant to bake me/ Mo pe Oluwa for safety/ Try to say this is what I am feeling lately,” they sing.
The song was accompanied by a vibrant and colourful music video, bringing the track’s emotional narrative to life.
Born and raised in Calabar, Iyanya rose to fame after winning the first season of Project Fame West Africa. He released his debut album ‘My Story’ in 2009.
In 2021, the singer co-founded the record label Made Men Music Group (MMMG) with Ubi Franklin, the music executive.
In 2016, Iyanya left MMMG after an altercation with Franklin. They, however, reunited in 2021.
He has established himself as a household name in the Nigerian music industry with several awards and recognition.
Born Awosika Olayemi, Fido, on the other hand, gained mainstream recognition with his breakout single ‘Awolowo’.
