IyeOgé, an AI-integrated fashion e-commerce platform referred to as “the first of its kind in Africa,” is set to launch in September.

In a statement released on Thursday, Iziegbe ‘Zig’ Okungbowa, the Nigerian-American creative entrepreneur and technologist who is IyeOgé founder, disclosed that the platform is dedicated to African fashion.

Zig said the platform is designed to redefine how the world engages with African design, merging cutting-edge technology with the continent’s rich heritage and offering a seamless bridge between Africa’s most talented designers and discerning global consumers.

“Blending cutting-edge technology with the richness of African heritage, IyeOgé is more than a marketplace,” the statement reads in part.

“It’s a meticulously curated platform that aims to connect Africa’s most exceptional designers and artisans with fashion-conscious audiences across the globe, especially the vast African Diaspora hungry for access, authenticity, and elevated retail experiences rooted in identity.

“The platform’s name is a nod to ancestral elegance, derived from both Edo and Yoruba cultural expressions of beauty, grace, and sophistication. But its mission is forward-looking: to create a luxury digital ecosystem where innovation meets tradition, and where storytelling is just as vital as style.”

Zig said her inspiration for IyeOgé stemmed from the absence of a digital platform that bridges African fashion talent with the diaspora and beyond.

“We’ve always had the talent, the craftsmanship, the stories. What’s been missing is the infrastructure to package it and present it to the world in a way that reflects our worth,” she said.

“IyeOgé is my answer to that. It’s about access and elevation, bringing Africa’s finest to the forefront with the same level of prestige and precision as any global fashion house.”

The platform will debut with a select roster of designers chosen for their exceptional craftsmanship, innovative design, and commitment to ethical production.

“Our mission is simple,” Zig added.

“To show the world that African fashion is not niche, it’s necessary. It’s the future. And it deserves a seat at the table, on its terms.”
