Evan Okoro, the Nollywood actress, has cried out over alleged death threat from her husband Chibuzor Erikefe.
In a recent Facebook video, the actress, who got married in April, revealed that she has been “living in fear” and can no longer stay silent as her “life is in danger”.
She said she has already filed a police petition and urged the public to hold Erikefe accountable if any harm befalls her or her family.
Okoro recounted that their marriage had been troubled from the beginning, revealing that no bride price was paid for her.
She described the union as “emotionally abusive,” comparing it to “a shoe that does not fit”. She also accused Erikefe of threatening to kill her if she leaves.
“I am living in fear, something strong is happening to me and if I do not come out to say it, I do not know where I would be tomorrow. I know a lot of people would laugh at me, I do not care my life is more important to me,” she said.
“The shoe that I took home is not my size, Chibuzor Erikefe is threatening me that if I leave him, he would kill me.
“I have written a petition about this and it is in the police station right now. Chibuzor Erikefe is threatening my life, I do not want the marriage anymore. I have been living in fear since, his bride price is not on my head.
“The day they came to marry me, they forgot to pay my bride price and my family called them two weeks ago to come and pay it.
“Tell him not to harm me or my family. This marriage is not working, I have tried everything possible to make this marriage work. The shoe is too tight on my leg, I cannot fit in and I told him I want to leae. He said that if I leave him, he would kill me.”
She further alleged that Erikefe became hostile when she refused to fund his lifestyle, leading to emotional neglect and threats.
Okoro also claimed that Erikefe had cut off all intimacy and ignored her complaints, even after she sought help from his family.
“This guy married me thinking that I have money to spend, when he came into my life I thought it was all love,” she said.
“I was building this house before he came into my life and I must finish it. Please if you know you love me, I am not asking you for money, do not give me and do not ask me. Please let me just finish and concentrate on my life.
“He said no and ever since then, it has been all hatred. He would not even touch me as a woman and I have complained to his family about this and I did not see any changes. This guy is threatening my life, I do not know what to do.”
Erikefe has yet to respond to the actress’ allegations.
