Adura Aloba, the younger brother of Mohbad, has countered a claim made by their father Joseph Aloba that the late singer was embalmed quickly.
Embalmment is the process of temporarily preserving a deceased body, typically through the use of chemicals, to delay decomposition and make it suitable for viewing or for medical study.
Mohbad died on September 12, 2023, after receiving an injection administered from auxiliary nurse Feyisayo Ogedengbe.
He was buried the following day but due to public outcry and ongoing investigations, his body was exhumed by the police on September 21, 2023, for an autopsy
In May 2024, the pathologist in charge of the autopsy revealed that the cause of death could not be determined due to the decomposition of his body.
Aloba recently claimed that Wunmi, Mohbad’s wife, did not take the proper step to move his body to the morgue despite having a doctor’s report. He also alleged that she proceeded to embalm him at home.
“He asked for a police report and a doctor’s report, which I didn’t have. Meanwhile, I later realised that Wunmi had the doctor’s report. Rather than taking him to the morgue, she took him to embalm him,” he had said.
However, in an interview on Objectv Media, Adura provided a different account, explaining that it was actually their uncle Daroosa who suggested placing salt on Mohbad’s chest while they waited for their parents to arrive.
Adura said their father may have mistaken the salt for signs of embalmment when he later saw the body.
“After he was pronounced dead by two hospitals, we returned his body home because our parents weren’t there, it was just the members of his label,” he said.
“We laid him down in the sitting room, and it was our uncle, Daroosa, who suggested that we place salt on his chest until our parents arrived.
“It was after that our father arrived, so I think it’s the salt he saw on his chest that made him say he had been embalmed.”
Adura also refuted Joseph’s claim that he buried Mohbad immediately out of confusion, arguing that his dad insisted on the burial that same night.
“It was when Daddy came that he insisted Mohbad must be buried that night,” he added.
“We were wondering why he insisted, but we began making arrangements for the burial since he is the elder.”
