In an interview on Oyinmomo TV, the Yoruba actor emphasised the importance of building a strong foundation of friendship before getting married.

Oyalowo, who is currently in a relationship, explained that he doesn’t know if he and his partner will eventually get married.

The actor said instead of rushing into marriage, he believes that a deep friendship should be the starting point for any successful union.

“I have someone that we are together. But we are hoping it ends in a good place. We do not know where it will end yet. Whoever wants to marry a theatre practitioner or an entertainer, let us first remove issues related to marriage,” he said.

“If you know you want to marry this particular person, is he or she my friend? If you eventually get married. And when you get married, every other shortcoming will be under the friendship umbrella. You will argue, fight, and shout at each other but it will end in jokes because you have a mutual understanding. But if it were to be that you just get married based on love at first sight, it eventually turns out to be violent because they do not have a full understanding of each other.

“I prefer it to be that I am first friends with anyone I am getting married to. From there we would proceed to ask questions about marriage.

“Many marriages are limited. There are some things some wives cannot do in the presence of their husbands. I feel that at this stage I am. Let me first have a friend who knows everything about me.”

Oyalowo is a graduate of Pharmaceutical Technology from Moshood Abiola Polytechnic. He trained under the Odunlade Adekola Film Productions (OAFP) and has featured in several movies, including his productions like ‘Tomori’, ‘Akinrogun and the Seven Angels’, ‘Love & Sacrifice’, and ‘Akanni Ekun’.
