Portable, the controversial Nigerian singer, has cautioned fans against comparing him to his colleague Asake.
The warning comes after Asake shared footage of his new look, featuring shorter hair and face tattoos, which sparked comparisons with Portable.
Reacting via an Instagram video, Portable argued that he resembles American rapper Lil Wayne, known for his face tattoos, rather than Asake.
He emphasized that true character is defined by one’s heart, not appearance. He also revealed that his face tattoos are a result of past disappointments.
The singer stressed his point by describing Asake as an “overrated and local” artiste.
“I want to warn you all, do not compare me to Asake. I do not look like Asake, I look like Lil Wayne,” he said.
“…A person’s true character is not revealed by their appearance but their heart. I tattooed my face because I have been disappointed severally.
“… Stop comparing to these overrated artists. Despite being called underrated, see where I’m now. I resemble Lil Wayne. I resemble an international artist not a local artist.”
