Miss Universe 2024 appeared to have made an error with the Nigerian Chidimma Adetshina’s profile on its website.
Last week, the newly crowned Miss Universe Nigeria arrived in Mexico to represent Nigeria at this year’s global competition.
Checks by TheCable Lifestyle on the voting portal of Miss Universe show that the bio of Guy Murray-Bruce, Silverbird Group president, was momentarily featured in the place of Adetshina’s for this year’s pageant.
However, other details about Chidimma, including her photo, date of birth, and social media profile, remain correct.
Miss Universe 2024 will be held in the Arena CDMX in Mexico on November 16. Sheynnis Palacios of Nicaragua will crown her successor at the end of the event.
Chidimma was born in South Africa to a Nigerian father and a Mozambican mother.
She sparked controversy during this year’s Miss South Africa pageant due to her nationality, which led to a surge of criticism on social media, particularly from South Africans.
This led Chidimma to withdraw from the Miss South Africa contest. Silverbird Group, the organisers of Miss Universe Nigeria would later invite Chidimma to participate in this year’s pageant.
She accepted the invitation to participate and was later crowned winner of the pageant.
Murray-Bruce, on the other hand, is a veteran in the media and entertainment industry. He is the national director (Nigeria) for Miss World and Miss Universe pageant.
