Ayra Starr says she will not date anyone in the music industry — even if she lived in an alternate reality of her own making.

In a recent Rolling Stone interview, the 22-year-old music sensation shared her thoughts on romantic relationships with US singer Coco Jones.

The Grammy-nominated singer revealed that, ideally, she wouldn’t date someone in the music industry.

“In the dream world, it wouldn’t be somebody that is in the industry,” she said.

“Probably just like a billionaire. On a yacht. In Dubai. In a thong.”

The ‘Rush’ hitmaker also explained that her high standards stem from never having been in a fully committed relationship.

“It is hard because you have to be very careful about who you give your energy to. And I’m so happy I wasn’t really dating before I started music,” she said.

“I didn’t really know what I was missing. So now that I waited this long to date people, I have very high standards.

“If it’s gonna be hard to meet it, it’s gonna be bye-bye. But also, I don’t have time for myself; talk less of a boy.”

Last month, the singer, real name Oyinkansola Aderibigbe, said she has never fallen in love.

Despite her rising fame, Starr remains focused on her music, which has catapulted her to becoming one of Africa’s biggest female artistes since releasing her debut album ’19 and Dangerous’ in 2021.
