Aminat Mayegun, the spokesperson of the Federal Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) in Lagos, has denied knowledge of Bobrisky‘s alleged hospitalisation.
Reports earlier claimed the crossdresser, who was arrested by the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) on Monday at the Seme border, was rushed to Falomo Police Hospital on Wednesday for medical attention.
The social media celebrity, who was later transferred to the Lagos FCID in Alagbon for further investigation, was said to have complained about severe chest pain.
“Bobrisky complained of ‘breast’ pain and was rushed to the Police Hospital in the Falomo area of Lagos around 2:00 p.m. in an ambulance with the plate number LND 339L. He wore a black gown, covered his face with a shawl, and lay down in the ambulance,” the reports quoted a source to have said.
When contacted by TheCable Lifestyle, Mayegun said she is unaware if the crossdresser is hospitalised.
“Nobody reported that to me. I am not aware. If you see it you can share with me,” she said.
The crossdresser is being detained at the FCID Alagbon following her arrest at the Seme border during an alleged attempt to flee the country.
Bobrisky, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), and the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCS) are being investigated by a committee of the house of representatives over bribery allegations.
Her ordeal started after activist VeryDarkMan shared a purported audio conversation wherein the crossdresser claimed that she paid some EFCC officials N15 million to drop money laundering charges against her.
In the recording, she also claimed that she spent her six-month jail term in an apartment rather than Kirikiri prison due to the influence of “my godfather”.
The self-proclaimed transgender later described the viral recording as “fake” and threatened to sue VeryDarkMan for alleged defamation.
Meanwhile, an investigative panel had revealed there was no evidence that Bobrisky slept outside the prison during her six-month jail term.
