Tony Elumelu, chairman of the UBA, and Vice-President Kashim Shettima attended the UN event.
Shettima spoke at the UNGA on behalf of President Bola Tinubu. The president called for permanent seats for Nigeria and Africa on the UN security council.
“The security council should be expanded, in the permanent and non-permanent member categories, to reflect the diversity and plurality of the world. We fully support the efforts of secretary-general Guterres in this regard,” Tinubu said.
“Africa must be accorded the respect that it deserves in the security council. Our continent deserves a place in the permanent members category of the security council, with the same rights and responsibilities as other permanent members.”
Florence ‘DJ Cuppy’ Otedola also made history after hosting an opening session at the UNGA.
Born David Adeleke, Davido rose to fame in 2012 after releasing ‘Dami Duro’, the second single from his debut studio album ‘Omo Baba Olowo’.
Since the release of his debut album, he has delivered three other projects including ‘A Good Time’ (2019), ‘A Better Time‘ (2020), and ‘Timeless’ (2023).
With strings of awards and honourary mentions, Davido has established himself as one of the leading artistes in Africa.
