The organisers of Big Brother Naija (BBNaija) season nine have announced some adjustments to the rules for the ongoing edition.

At the beginning of this year’s BBNaija edition, the custodian challenge was introduced and held every Sunday after the evictions.

Housemates who won the challenge were granted immunity for the week and empowered to influence nominations for possible eviction.

The heads of house (HoH) for the week were decided through balloting. However, winning the title did not grant immunity. Winners were only allowed to decide the punishment for any housemate found wanting for the week.

During Sunday’s live show, Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, the host, revealed that Biggie has abolished the custodian challenge and the HoH ballot.

The housemates were also stripped of the power to vote for eviction from the bottom four pairs.

The winners of the HOH challenge will now be granted automatic immunity for the week, however, they will not have the power to ‘save and replace’ housemates.

According to the latest rules, the pairs will nominate each other for eviction while viewers have the ultimate power to evict by voting.

This year’s BBNaija premiered on July 28 with the unveiling of 28 housemates paired up in a team of 14.

The show will run for 71 days and end on October 6. The winner of the 2024 season will go home with the grand prize of N100 million.
