Burna Boy, the Grammy-winning singer,
has shared his opinion about the challenges faced by wealthy Nigerians outside of politics.
In a snippet of his upcoming song ‘Empty Chairs’, the singer claimed individuals who amass wealth without political affiliation often become targets of societal scrutiny.

“If you no be politician and you manage get rich, them go turn you victim of society,” the lyrics read.
Burna Boy’s statement follows the recent challenges faced by Aliko Dangote, the billionaire business man, in the operation of his refinery.
Dangote had accused international oil companies (IOCs) of hindering his refinery’s operations by frustrating its request to purchase crude feedstock.
On July 18, Farouk Ahmed, chief executive officer of Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), accused Dangote Refinery of producing inferior products compared to the ones imported into the country.
However, Dangote denied the allegation. He also tested diesel from his refinery on July 20 when federal lawmakers visited the plant.
The billionaire businesman called for a probe into the allegations made by the NMDPRA.
On July 22, the lawmakers launched investigations into Ahmed’s claim.
The house of representatives asked the federal government to suspend Ahmed over “unguarded comments” on July 27.
On Monday, President Bola Tinubu directed the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited to sell crude oil to Dangote Petroleum Refinery and other refineries in naira.
