Anthony Ebuka Victor, the Nigerian singer better known as Victony, has recalled his experience with heartbreak.
Victony, 23, said when he was much younger, his ex-girlfriend lied about her friendship with another guy.
The ‘Soweto’ hitmaker said when he eventually found out the truth, the situation “left me mad and I felt stupid”.
“As a young boy. Although, I am still young. But as a younger boy. Heartbreak na heartbreak. There was this babe. That time we still dey grind. Still doing our thing on a low,” he said in a recent interview on the ‘Is This Seat Taken’ podcast.
“You know she was talking to this other guy and I was aware. She was telling me about this other guy. Me, very open-minded, I was like this guy was just her friend.
“She told me he was her friend but his name just always came up. And I will be like which kind of friend is this one?
“At the end of the day, it turned out he was not her friend. That was very mad because when I realised everything that was going on I felt very stupid.”
He also announced that his North America tour is coming up in August 2024.
Victony rose to fame a few years ago after collaborating with Mayorkun for ‘Holy Father’.
He is signed to Mainland Block Party, a record label owned by the Nigerian music executive Tobi Mohammed.
In 2023, Victony revealed how the COVID-19 lockdown allowed him to switch from Hip-Hop music to Afrobeats.
He said although he finds Afrobeats more challenging, he wanted to try something new.
Last month, he released his debut album titled ‘Stubborn’.
Victony also spoke about the rapper Olamide’s impact on the debut album.
