AY Makun says Richard Mofe-Damijo (RMD), the actor, inspired him to pursue a university degree.
In an interview with Iyabo Ojo, the actress, AY said he used to work as a bartender.
He said he often watched famous Nigerian entertainers like Alex O and Shina Peters perform on stage.
The actor stated that watching them perform inspired him to want a career for himself in the entertainment industry.
He said he sought advice from RMD, who advised him to go back to school.
He added that he followed the advice, and enrolled in Delta State University to study Theatre Arts.
“When I was working as a bartender, I would see a lot of people the likes of Alex O and Shina Peters coming to perform. I would say to myself that someday, somehow, somewhere, sometime in life, I am going to get into the entertainment space,” he said.
“So, there was one time that I approached RMD when he came, a long time ago. We were talking and he advised me to go back to school. He said, ‘Education is important. Afterward, trust me, all these things would follow.’
“So, that was how I gained admission into Delta State University to study Theatre Arts.”
AY and RMD have worked on several movie projects together.
The comedian featured RMD in some of his movie projects.
These include ‘30 Days In Atlanta’, ‘Christmas in Miami’, and ‘10 Days in Sun City’.
